Rudolph's Red Robe

While Maya Rudolph stole the Oscars
stage with Tiffany Haddish when the presented two short film awards, her dress
on was mildly off-putting.
While Haddish wore the Alexander
McQueen dress she wore to the premiere of her debut movie Girls’ Trip then
famously vowed to wear as many times as possible on SNL, Rudolph opted to keep
on the red sack-like dress she wore on the red carpet.
The sheath dress hung in a boring,
shapeless manner that left Rudolph looking like a tired, old woman trying to
hide in her clothes.
And Rudolph is no such woman, which
is what makes this dress choice so wrong.
The dress covered everything.
The high neckline and floor-length
hem kept everything to the imagination. While the long sleeves just added
insult to injury.
The cuffs on the sleeves just added
to the modesty of the dress somehow, instead of adding a bit of much-needed
interest.
While Allison Janney shown in red,
Rudolph was not as successful.
The red lip matched the dress’s hue
perfectly, which was a nice touch to an otherwise lack-luster ensemble.
