Marc Jacobs New York Fashion Week 2018

New York Fashion Week has kicked
off and is already proving to be one for the books.
Marc Jacobs caused quite a splash
with its Autumn/Winter collection.
While many designers have opted for
layers and thicker knits, Marc Jacobs took it a step further.
There is one theme surrounding the
collection: oversized.
From coats to scarves to hats,
everything in the collection makes a big statement.
The oversized hats in the collections
featured wide brims that left the models’ faces in shadow. This added to the
mysterious vibe surrounding the designs.
While many of the designs featured
a singular bright color, there were a few that featured different color
combinations.
One matching suit and pant
combination featured berry tones and blue and green jewel tones in huge blocks
of color throughout the outfit.
The boxy shoulders added to the vintage
feel already present in the designs.
One oversized coat featured a
metallic red hue that shifted to black as the model moved. The oversized,
ruffled scarf kept with the theme of the show, while the blush pink shawl the
model carried contrasted with the jewel tones featured throughout.
Marc Jacobs is known for its
unusual, fashion-forward designs, and its show did not disappoint.
The jewel tones were perfect for
the Autumn/Winter collection, while the pops of lighter hues contrasted with
the jewel tones and created a perfect balance.
While the clothes are not everyone’s
cup of tea, the eighties seem to have returned.
At least in the world of Marc
Jacobs they have.
