Beautiful designs, fantastic runway
shows and celebrity audiences most likely.
What about balloons? Did you think
of balloons?
Well, Matty Bovan’s Autumn/Winter
2018 show will make you think just that.
The show featured models strutting
down the runway with bundles of balloons secured to their heads by what looked
like sheer black bags.
From solid red to giant balloons
with tiger faces on them, the show covered the spectrum of helium-related
fashion content.
The balloons were used to be
eye-catching and to balance out the full skirts of the gowns that the designer
was debuting.
The skirts featured layers of
different colored fabrics, ruffles and tulle and were twice the size of most of
the models wearing them.
Another unusual aspect of the show
was the makeup.
Small boxes were painted over the
models’ eyes, straight across the bridges of their noses.
While the balloons and the makeup
were eye-catching and different, it could be said that the brand did not need
that amount of extra interest.
The gowns themselves were beautiful
and intricate enough for them to be center-stage.
While some may argue that the
balloons were just the added shock value to a beautiful collection, it may be
that the balloons took away from the show.
While everyone was staring at the balloons
floating above the models’ heads, the gowns seemed like an afterthought and could
be ignored for the strange sight of the balloons.
With designs as beautiful as that,
you want all eyes to be on the dresses.
