Palomo Spain Wows Madrid Fashion Week

The runway and the designs complimented each other
beautifully, as there was a vintage, almost medieval, feel to the collection.
The Mercedes-Benz 2018 Madrid Fashion Week kicked off on
January 25, bringing with it many eye-catching and unusual garments but
designers both young and experienced.
One standout show was Palomo Spain’s Autumn/Winter Menswear
collection.
The runway was set with greenery and deep rustic colors to
set the tone for the whimsical, but dark collection.
Themes of powder blue and button-up dresses with frilled
skirts flooded the runway.

This medieval feeling was continued through pieces like a purple
and white top with puffy, layered sleeves that call back to a time of court
jesters.
Most of the designs had quite a feminine feel to them, but
there were a few that broke that mold.
An all-black, pirate-style outfit, complete with a frilled
button-up top and a chunky tan belt gave a rougher touch to the otherwise light
collection.
The raccoon’s tail keychain and large choker added to pirate
feeling of the design.
One design that stuck out, maybe for the wrong reasons, was
a shiny, forest green ensemble.
It featured a ruffled crop top and pants with cut outs around
the crotch.
The gold, leafy headband did little to make this outfit
tasteful. It felt much more strip club than runway.
While Palomo Spain continues to push boundaries and ignore
cultural gender stereotypes, it also continues to release fresh and exciting
designs with beautifully done backdrops for their shows.
The shows continue to tell a fairy tale each and every time.
