Robots Replacing Models??

We have all heard workers in factories get upset because a robot replaced them at their job.

But what happens when technology starts infiltrating the fashion world to the point where it replaces models?

That’s exactly what happened at Dolce and Gabbana’s 2018 Milan Fashion Week show.

Instead of models, the design house chose to have drones model their handbag collection.

The black drones featured small, lit orbs atop their frames and were all very uniform, something you rarely see among models as designers aim to have each compliment the styles they are wearing.

Each drone floated its bag out at a set speed to keep the spacing perfectly even throughout the show.

It went smoothly. That is, after the drones delayed the show for 45 minutes.

It would seem that there are still some kinks to be worked out.

It also should be noted that the show lacked, well, humanity.

Having a drone model a handbag is a lot like looking at a clothing item hanging on a rack. Consumers have no idea how it looks with certain outfits, how it hangs, what colors it compliments.

While the modeling industry hasn’t been infiltrated by models (yet), it seems like that may be the direction envelope-pushing designers will try to go.

Will we need models in the future? Or will they be replaced by perfect, technological copies of them?
