2016 Oscars Beauty Standouts

While every other entertainment outlet is talking about the best dressed women at the 2016 Oscars, I want to talk about something else... their makeup! These are my favorite beauty looks from the red carpet in no particular order.

Rooney Mara

I'm definitely not a huge fan of Mara's dress but I think her hair and makeup were quite impressive Sunday night. Her hair was knotted into three small buns in a vertical line down the back of her head. This perfectly curated updo was nothing like the usual french twists and perfect curls Oscar goers usually flaunt. Mara's precise brows balanced her bold red lip, while her taupe eye look brought the look together and made her hazel eyes pop. Mara's look was very unusual as far as Oscar looks go and that's probably why I'm obsessed with it. 

Lady Gaga

Gaga's old Hollywood glamour look was stunning on the red carpet. Her rose gold lids took center stage. The sweep of one shadow all over the lid helped tone down the shimmery shade. She kept the rest of the makeup simple with nude-pink lips and subtle blush, ensuring that her eyes were the stars of the show. Her light blonde hair was curled in perfect vintage glamour curls, with her bangs pulled back from her forehead. This look is a far cry from the styles Gaga used to wear. It seemed she opted for a less bewildering and more bewitching appearance. 

Charlize Theron

I'm convinced Theron has never looked anything less than stunning. From her smokey eye that made her green eyes pop and the nude lips that brought the whole look together to the perfect quiff of her bangs, Theron absolutely killed the red carpet. I love how matte her complexion is and how she left off any blush and kept her bronzer subtle. It really left the eyes to be the center of attention. The taupe color on her eyes really made everything pop and the glossy nude lip balanced the glittering eye flawlessly.

Jennifer Garner

Bye bye Ben! Garner is the perfect example of how looking great can be the perfect revenge. Garner, like Theron, rocked a beautiful smokey eye with a glossy nude lip. I love how this look seems to be the newest favorite look on the red carpet. I was getting a tad sick of all of the red lips. Garner opted for a subtle sweep of rose blush on the apples of her cheeks and to keep her hair swept back in a pretty up-do. And just look at those perfect brows!

Brie Larson

There is nothing more fun than a raspberry statement lip and Larson knows how to rock it. The Best Actress winner looked ready for a wonderful night with a simple middle part and half-up hairdo. She let her eyes pop with a shimmery shadow and liner that balanced the eyes with the lips. Obviously, my favorite part of her look is the statement lip. I love that stars are experimenting with different colors that are more fun. 

Olivia Wilde

Another actress who almost never looks anything short of perfect. Wilde's glowy look screamed Spring. Her rosy eye balances well with her pinky-nude lip. She kept her complexion dewy, which only improved her Springy look. She glowed and her eyes popped against all the rosy shades. Her hair was up in a beautiful braid that let her necklace be a statement piece like no other.

Kerry Washington

Kerry Washington is always beautiful but this is my favorite look I've ever seen on her. She absolutely rocked that cat eye and those lashes made the look even more dramatic and glamorous. Washington also opted for a nude lip but kept it less pink than Theron or Garner. Her brows are absolute perfection and keep the look balanced.
